Facebook user base tops 500 million.
Google Me user base tops 0.

That means about one out of every 14 people on planet Earth is on Facebook.
Facebook, by far the world’s largest social network, announced it had crossed the 400 million user threshold in February of this year, which means the Palo Alto, California-based company added 100 million new users in about six months. So, Google is really in deep trouble now. For Google to start the race against Facebook in the social media space the release of Google Me should start now. Not in 5 or 6 months time. By then it may be too late for Google.
Annoyed Facebook Users Building Their Own Social Network Websites. [Source]
Facebook users seem to have got enough of the template look of the website and are moving towards creating a trend of building their own social networking websites with the help of social networks like SocialGO. Customization is no more a hurdle for the creators of new social networking sites. A survey commissioned by web security site Sophos reveals that over 60 percent of the users on Facebook have quit visiting the site because of privacy issues. Users have found themselves to be strolling with bored air and losing trust in the social networking site especially because of its constantly changing and deceptive security settings. Facebook fans have come to a new halt and would rather like to experiment with new models.
It may be ok for Facebook to say they have reached the 500 million member mark but the back-end churn will cause Facebook some serious damage. Disgruntled Facebook users will be looking for some other social media site to call their own instead of being ruled by Facebook.
This may mean Google Me is arriving just in time to take advantage of the Facebook churn. Surely the mighty Facebook would not succumb to an onslaught from Google Me?
