Google Me Is A Live Project. Facebook Will Be Under The Pump.
It looks like the Social Network War is not far away. In my view I think Google will roll out Google Me next month. " July 2010".

Google has no choice but to take on Facebook to retain it's advertising revenue stream. Facebook has grown at a pace Google never imagined. So, Google has to do something about competing with Facebook or risk losing market share.
Already Google has infrastructure in place and has been developing Google Me for sometime.

This is not a rumor. This is a real project. There are a large number of people working on it. I am completely confident about this. * They realized that Buzz wasn't enough and that they need to build out a full, first-class social network. They are modeling it off of Facebook.
Unlike previous attempts (before Buzz at least), this is a high-priority project within Google.
They had assumed that Facebook's growth would slow as it grew, and that Facebook wouldn't be able to have too much leverage over them, but then it just didn't stop, and now they are really scared.

Real or not, experts are skeptical that any such service could topple Facebook, which currently has more than 450 million users and expects to pass 500 shortly. According to market-research firm Hitwise, social networking sites garner increasingly more visits than search engines today. In May, 14.5% of all website traffic was to social networking sites and forums, while search engines accounted for slightly more than 10%.
"What Google and everyone else has to remember is that Facebook was not an overnight success. It took years to get here and it’s still on the rise. I doubt Google Buzz will ever challenge Facebook," Ulanoff added.

The latest (apparently confirmed) rumor to hit the blogosphere is Google's in-development entry into social networking, Google Me, called the "Facebook Killer" by more than one blog. In response, sportsbook and betting site YouWager is offering odds on the latest potential "killer" to hit the blogosphere.
According to the site, Google Me is on the way soon, will be immediately popular but will likely not, indeed, be the "Facebook Killer" it has been dubbed. See below for the odds (as of this posting) the site is giving on those particular scenarios:
Will Google Me launch by Labor Day Weekend?
No 75% (-300)
Yes 31% (+200)
Will Google Me solicit one million users within the first week of launch? Yes 67% (-200)
No 50% (+100)
Will Facebook go extinct by 2012?
No 67% (-200)
Yes 50% (+100)
